Yoga therapy is a therapy form designed especially for you. It applies and adapts traditional yogic practices for specific issues or needs. In a one on one session you will receive guidance and support from a highly trained yoga therapist to address your health challenges on a physical, mental and emotional level, taking in the perspective of your life as a whole. In yoga therapy a variety of tools are used, such as asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation and mantra. Your therapist will guide you in how to use these tools to support your health and wellbeing.
The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) has over the last 12 years worked to establish yoga therapy as a profession. With an ever-increasing body of research behind it, yoga therapy is being recognized and used as a clinically viable treatment in established programs at major hospitals, as well as in primary care centers, all around the globe.
